Strata, the advanced composites aerostucture plant constructed in Al Ain, will start its production and deliver the first composite part in the first half of 2010, a senior Mubadala official told Gulf News. The UAE said yesterday it had surpassed the Southeast Asian economic tigers Singapore and Hong Kong in business confidence for two successive quarters this year. Thousands walk for diabetes awareness

People turned up with their children who enjoyed the walk with their faces painted and got photographed with enchanting clowns. The UAE has the second highest prevalence of diabetes in the world at 19.5 per cent. Blue-buckets march marks Children’s Day

Over 5,000 people walked through a portion of Jumeirah Beach Road with blue buckets on their heads, to draw attention to the plight of children who have to walk for miles to get access to drinking water. The official opening of an exhibition of contemporary art yesterday heralded the arrival of Saadiyat Island as the capital's cultural hot spot.
