Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ) is an integral part of the Dubai International Airport Expansion programme and covers a total land area of 1.2 million sq. m, with specially designed facilities for a wide variety of technology driven industries, including retail and light industrial companies as well as commercial distribution services. Companies with products having high value to low weight ratio will benefit from being located at this innovative free zone. The free zone has more than 470,000 sq. m of apron space on the north side of the airport, with parking bays to handle up to 10 Boeing 777 aircraft simultaneously. The Dubai Airport Free Zone is built around a high quality infrastructure providing digital communications, reliable power and other utilities supporting the needs of sophisticated high technology companies. This free zone is a major new step in Dubai’s evolution from a distribution hub to a manufacturing centre, and in this respect complements the already well-established Jebel Ali Free Zone.

DAFZ has become one of the few free zones in the region, and the first in UAE, to receive ISO 9001:2000 certification. Set up in 1996, the zone has recorded good growth. More than 125 companies have been registered and about 500 applications have been received for companies intending to establish in the zone.
