Ambassador of Canada Sara Hradecky yesterday opened a show hosted by the Royal Canadian Mint to display the world's largest gold coin as acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records. The coin is made of 99.999% pure gold, weighs 100 kg and has a face value of 1 million USD. The opening ceremony was attended by Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, Jim Metcalf, President of the Canadian Business Group in Abu Dhabi and officials from the Royal Canadian Mint. - Emirates

Central Bank issues a memorial dirham on the 30th anniversary of liquefied gas exportation Posted on 22/10/2007
The UAE Central Bank has issued a memorial dirham, marking the 30th anniversary of exporting the first shipment of the liquefied gas by the Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company LTD (ADGAS). The diameter of memorial dirham is 24mm and weighing 6.4g. 75 per cent of it is copper, while 25 of the dirham is Nickel. The front face of the coin remains as it is. Dubai's first souvenir gold coin will be sold by end of the month Posted on 18/09/2007
'Visions of Dubai', the emirate's first souvenir 22 carat gold coin, will be available in stores by the end of the month and in units ranging from 34 gm to 3.4 gm. The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) said in a release that the coin offers a new gift option for Eid to tourists and residents. The Centre has named Jumeirah Retail and Dubai Duty Free as the first two authorised distributors for the collectible keepsake.

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) announced yesterday the launch of Dubai's first souvenir gold coin, a series of valuable collectible coins representing the emirate.
The first coin in the "Visions of Dubai" series will feature the image of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Burj Al Arab, Dubai's iconic landmark will be engraved on the other side of the Visions of Dubai coin.

The UAE Central Bank will start issuing from today, Monday, a commemorative coin on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Zakum Development Company (ZADCO). The UAE Central Bank will issue on Tuesday two commemorative coins, in Gold and Silver, as well as a commemorative Dirham coin to mark the occasion of the official bestowing of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak a new title of "Mother of the Nation", it was announced by the Central Bank.

The UAE Central Bank announced that it will be issuing with effect from next Saturday commemorative gold and silver coins on the occasion of the first anniversary of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE. A bank statement said the face depicts the portrait of Sheikh Khalifa and the back features the Emirates Palace.

The UAE Central Bank announced on Wednesday it would soon issue two gold and silver commemorative coins to mark the first anniversary of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's assumption of power. The UAE Central Bank will from today, Friday, issue a silver commemorative coin in AED50 denomination to mark the Silver Jubilee of The Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS).
