29th day of Ramadan now public holiday
posted on 12/02/2002

The Cabinet yesterday held its ordinary weekly meeting under the chairmanship of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In line with the directions of President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Cabinet decided to consider the 29th of Ramadan of each year as an official public holiday. The Cabinet also approved a memorandum from the planning minister and chairman of the Permanent Projects Committee, authorising a specialised company to carry out geological studies and prepare new geological maps for the country at the cost of Dh36 million.

The Cabinet also reviewed three memoranda from the Federal National Council pertaining to amendment of the federal law No 37 for the year 1992 regarding trademarks. The Cabinet also reviewed a number of other subjects and took appropriate decisions on them. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
