311,791 students in Abu Dhabi are back to school, says ADEC

The 2nd school trimester begins next Sunday for 311,791 students and 31,097 staff members across public and private schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Education Council, or ADEC, said in a press release.

Schools have already finalised all necessary preparations including the availability of new textbooks to receive students.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC's Executive Director of School Operations said that schools are ready to start the 2nd trimester following the end of the 1st trimester break.

He emphasised that ADEC is keen to ensure all educational services and needs are in place for students and teachers in order to develop education in Abu Dhabi in line with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

He further expressed his appreciation to both students and staff whose efforts made during the 1st trimester which shall pave the way for them to achieve excellence and render a qualified and educated generations.

"ADEC has already received four newly-built schools that will be ready to accommodate students as of tomorrow. These schools are Mubarak bin Mohammed (Cycle1) at Al Bateen area with 45 classrooms that can accommodate a capacity of 1200 students." "The 2nd is Al Khatim Girls School (KG '&' Cycles 1, 2 and 3) with 28 classrooms that can accommodate a capacity of 600 students. The 3rd is Al Jahili School in Al Ain, designated mainly for Cycle3 female students with 50 classrooms that can accommodate 1500 students. The 4th is Mariam bint Sultan C3 School in Al Towaya, for female students, with 40 classrooms that can accommodate 1200 students," Al Dhaheri explained.

The total number of students attending Abu Dhabi public schools in all Cycles amounts to 126,207; those are enrolled in 268 schools and kindergartens operated by 12,962 teaching and administrative staff. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
