31st National Day statement by Fujairah Ruler

H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, said the December 2 was a critical juncture in the history of both UAE and Arab-Muslim nation. 'Under the prudent leadership of H.H. President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his fellows their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of emirates, the UAE has earned an honourable position at regional, Arab and international forums and has become an active player within the world family, gaining high respect of all,' Sheikh Hamad said in a statement to 'Dira'a Al Watan' magazine to mark the 31st anniversary of the country's National Day.



He said that Sheikh Zayed's far-sightedness and determination were behind the creation of the federation and the UAE modern state. 'The strong will of the leadership and the constructive cooperation of the people have helped the country to overcome all difficulties, turning dreams into reality. Today, the UAE people are looking at the bright future with confidence and optimism, Sheikh Hamad added. At local level, the country has made a remarkable progress in all walks of life with high standards in socio-economic, educational and health sectors stood as excellent examples of what have been achieved.



On Arab plane, Sheikh Zayed has been and is still a vocal advocate of solidarity and unity among Arab-Muslim nations in order to face the daunting challenges ahead. 'Arab-Muslim causes and concerns are occupying important of the UAE leadership's thinking,' he said. The UAE, he added, was exerting intensive diplomatic efforts to support the Palestinian cause and extend all possible help to mitigate the suffering of the Palestinian people under the Israeli occupation.
