The campaign launched by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) to reach out to the Iraqi people to help alleviate their sufferings continues in various forms and throughout the country. An RCA delegation, including Saeed bin Khadem Al Mansouri and Adnan Ateeq Al Shihhi, has presented 50 air-conditioners to a number of centres for the handicapped and orphanages in various parts of Baghdad, with each centre receiving 10 air-conditioners. The RCA delegation, which conducted the two-day distribution exercise, had earlier on visited the centres to acquaint themselves with their needs.

The director of the department of orphanages and children in Baghdad, Bayan Hassan Ali, thanked the RCA for the gesture. She expressed her best regards and gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who she said, remained committed to providing all the necessary requirements of the Iraqi people.

Meanwhile, "Gulf News” reported that a UAE Air Force jet landed in Abu Dhabi yesterday with another five wounded Iraqis as part of a large-scale operation to provide treatment to Iraqis injured in the war. The five, including three men and two women, were flown out of the northern town of Mosul and nearly 40 others will be brought from Baghdad on Sunday aboard a civilian aircraft hired by the Red Crescent Authority. Three wounded Iraqi men and one sick woman were flown into Abu Dhabi's Bateen air base yesterday and officials said hundreds could be brought in the air bridge ordered by Sheikh Zayed.
