ADACH becomes a member of the World Crafts Council

The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH ) has been granted a membership at the World Crafts Council Asia-Pacific region with the support of all members.

The selection of ADACH came within the activities of the 16th World Crafts Council International General Assembly held in Hangzhou, China from 4th - 10th November, 2008.

Said Al-Kaabi, Production Manager of the Office of Intangible Heritage and head of the participating delegation, said that ADACH became a member of the World Crafts Council, emphasizing that "the Council aims to look after craftsmen, improve their conditions, develop their crafts industry, exchange knowledge and encourage cooperation between crafts institutions around the world - whether they are public or private." "The Council also aims to offer technical and financial support to craftsmen in order to improve their goods, develop and promote them," added Kaabi.

A group of craftswomen from ADACH participated in the 16th World Crafts Council International General Assembly on the sidelines the 31st World Exhibition of developing Crafts Asia Pacific held in Hangzhou, China from 6th - 9th November, 2008. The participation aims to introduce and promote UAE crafts through a live display of Emirati handicrafts in front of visitors and participants. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
