Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) said yesterday that the Authority continues to implement a number of projects regulating the archaeological activities in the emirate. These includes archaeological surveys, excavations and restoration of artefacts. The projects conform to the standards approved by UNESCO. Sheikh Sultan said that the ADACH is coordinating with the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture to avoid chances of any constructional activities spreading over to sites of archaeological importance.

He noted that several archaeological surveys have proved the richness of the emirate in sites of historical value, and the Authority is committed to preserve them. He also noted that 27 archaeological surveys were carried out during the first half of the year, and the recent discoveries of artefacts dating back to the stone age shed light on human habitation in Sila' 7000 years ago.
