The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed an agreement with the Nordic countries to set up a joint Follow-up Committee to improve the economic relations between the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the four countries of the Nordic region. The agreement was signed by Mohammed Omar Abdullah, the ADCCI Director General, on behalf of the ADCCI. Dr. Tito Grono, Deputy Head of Mission of the Finland Embassy, Ulf Walden, Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Mission of Swedish Embassy, Flemming Jensen, Consul of Danish Consulate, and Frode Solberg, First Secretary and Deputy Head of the Mission in the Norwegian Embassy, signed the agreement on behalf of the Nordic Countries, according to a statement from ADCCI.

The agreement was signed as both sides felt the pressing need for better co-ordination of efforts on their part to boost economic relations. The agreement aims at direct exchange of information between Abu Dhabi and Nordic business communities on business opportunities, technological and industrial co-operation, reciprocal investment and general economic market developments. It will also promote agreement wherever possible between Nordic countries and Abu Dhabi businessmen in economic, industrial and technological co-operation, such as joint ventures and transfer of technology.

To achieve these objectives, both sides will regularly exchange visits by trade delegations and technical experts. Addressing a press conference before signing the agreement, Abdullah said that the agreement was the result of the keenness of both sides to boost the mutual relations to such a level that would fulfil the common goals.
