The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four different Japanese companies to help strengthen UAE-Japanese Educational partnerships as well as introduce some of the world's best educational options for schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The UAE-Japan Educational Partnership promises to introduce sustained change and creativity in teaching, learning and performance while further developing ADEC's pedagogy.

Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, ADEC's Director General lauded the partnership and explained that one of ADEC's strategic goals is to deliver high quality education that encourages students to reach their full potential in order to support Abu Dhabi's growth and prosperity and to develop human capital across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

"One of the most important methods for us at ADEC is to learn-from some of the world's best education experts who have experience in the education reform. That is why ADEC is keen on establishing partnerships with leading international institutions that offer world class educational opportunities for students," said Dr. Al Khaili, who added that ADEC would like to encourage its students to communicate in different languages other than in English and Arabic.

ADEC has previously signed a MoU with the Japan International Cooperation Centre (JICE) on February 10th 2013 in their aim to increase the number of university options for Emirati students, with special emphasis on subjects such as Science, Engineering and Technology.

JICE will also set up an Educational Development Office to help contribute to human resources development in Abu Dhabi through encouraging more students to study in Japanese universities, to develop students who can contribute to industrial development in the UAE and to promote other related matters for educational human resources development.

During her speech, Sachiko Yamano, President of JICE explained that Dr. Al Khaili visited a few schools and universities in Japan in April, which she described as significant for the benefit of the MoU in order to reflect the bilateral exchange.

"I hope that the Educational Development Office is only the beginning. I wish ties with ADEC will be further enforced with future cooperation's for both our countries," said Ms. Yamano.

The three other Japanese companies who have signed an MoU with ADEC today include Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. - Abu Dhabi Office, represented by Satoshi Matsui; the Abu Dhabi Oil Co., Ltd. (Japan), represented by Yukihiro Tanaka and Ritsumeikan Trust represented by Dr. Kiyofumi Kawaguchi, who lauded the partnership with ADEC.

During the signing ceremony Dr. Kawaguchi said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all ADEC's support. The relationship between the UAE and Japan is an important milestone for both countries and through this partnership we look forward to promoting peace, democracy and sustainable development in the UAE, Japan and hopefully throughout the world." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
