The Abu Dhabi National Tanker Co, ADNATCO, is likely to witness a drop in volumes this year mainly due to dry-docking of six of its vessels, a senior official said. ADNATCO owns nine vessels which include large size product tankers, medium size tankers, a bunkering vessels and a molten sulphur carrier. In 2000, ADNATCO carried some 8.5 million tonnes of petroleum products, sulphur and LPG. Between 1975 and end-2000, ADNATCO transported 178 million tonnes of petroleum products, granulated and molten sulphur and LPG. Shipments were made sing ADNATCOs tankers and chartered vessels. A 100 per cent ADNOC subsidiary, ADNATCO transports sulphur to the North African markets such as Morocco and Tunisia while LPG is shipped to the Far East, with Japan being a major market. Petroleum to various markets worldwide. According to the latest ADNATCO News, tanker rates spiralled to record levels in 2000 due to increase in oil demand. These developments were quite unexpected in light of the Far East economic crisis which hit Asian economies. (The Gulf News)
