Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced that it will set up a research centre within the Petroleum Institute campus currently being developed in Sas al-Nakheel in Abu Dhabi. Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings has been awarded the Dh 85m contract by ADNOC for the construction of the new 'Takreer Research Centre'.
The contract encompasses construction of a three-storey research centre building (G+2), comprising laboratories, workshops, pilot plant, gas bunker and offices in addition to all related MEP services and infrastructure. The total built-up area for the facility is 6,000 square metres and is scheduled for completion in June 2009.
Once complete, the research centre will enhance Adnoc's performance in various operations including refining of crude oil, supply of petroleum products and production of granulated sulphur in compliance with domestic and international specifications. Through this centre, Takreer will also provide a boost to employment opportunities for UAE national workforce by equipping them with the requisite skills. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
