Students of the GCC Cultural Club at the American University in Dubai (AUD) yesterday celebrated the UAE National Day on AUD campus. The event involved many activities organized by the students that originate from the UAE culture. Dania Bazzy, External Affairs Director of AUD, said "We are very pleased with our students' initiative to celebrate such a special and important occasion that marks the UAE's 34th anniversary.

Our diverse cultural student body got the first hand experience of the UAE customs and traditions at the event. It is such an honour and a privilege for AUD to participate in the festivities of a country that has achieved outstanding leaps in recent history." The event was inaugurated by Mr. Elias Bou Saab, Vice President of AUD, who also pro-actively participated in traditional UAE folklore harbiya dance. The celebration was held in a traditional UAE setting with a wide range of activities carried out by the students that included henna, GCC countries display, pearl diving display, camel rides and poetry.

The overwhelming turnout of students and staff reflects the significance of the occasion among the AUD community. Students from all nationalities stayed late to attend the event with their fellow colleagues. AUD is renowned for its multicultural student body where almost eighty nationalities are represented among its students.
