A UAE aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of relief supplies will leave tomorrow for Algerian to help victims of the floods and torrential rains which hit Algerian recently. Sanaa Darwish Al Kutbi, Secretary General of the Red Crescent Society, RCS, said that the relief material will include tents, blankets and foodstuff. She added that a delegation from the society will also be on board the plane to assess the requirements and damages of the floods. President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, ordered a quick dispatch of supplies to the affected areas in Algeria Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the RCS, supervises the dispatch of relief assistance. He earlier said that the RCS team will also assess the needs of the people. Meanwhile, Algerian Ambassador Abdul Hamid Bouzahir, in a meeting at RCS headquarters with Saleh Mohammed Al Mualla, Deputy Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, praised President Sheikh Zayed's initiative to provide urgent assistance to victims of floods in Algeria and thanked the UAE for its human gesture.
