Abducted UAE Diplomat released

The UAE Diplomat abducted in Iraq has been released, according to UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. "Naji Al Nuaimi, the UAE diplomat who was abducted in Iraq on May 16th, was released tonight," Sheikh Abdullah confirmed. The Minister expressed the UAE's "deep gratitude to the Iraqi Government for its faithful efforts which culminated in the safe release of Al Nuaimi.”

"We are also thankful to the various Iraqi political forces for their role in securing Al Nuaimi's release, and to the sisterly Iraqi people for their appreciation of the UAE humanitarian role in Iraq," the Minister added. Sheikh Abdullah congratulated the family of the diplomat and the UAE people for the end of Naji's ordeal, and affirmed that Al Nuaimi is in good health. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
