Abdullah bin Zayed chairs GCC side in talks with RIO Group

New York - H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Chair of the Current Session of the GCC Ministerial Council headed the GCC side during the talks with the RIO Group, held at United Nations here yesterday.

The RIO side was chaired by Chilean Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno, whose country currently chairs the RIO group.

Present were HRH Prince Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Saud, Deputy Saudi Foreign Minister and Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States.

The meeting tackled ways to boost the economic cooperation between the GCC and the RIO group, especially in the area of trade exchange. The two sides also discussed the regional and international issues listed in the agenda of the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Rio Group is an international organisation of Latin American states. It arose in 1986 as an alternative body to the Organisation of American States. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
