Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has condemned launching of the Dutch film "Fitna" - which insults Islam and Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) - on the internet. He also deplored the film director's insistence to put the film on the internet.

In a statement made today, Sheikh Abdullah stressed the necessity to respect others' religions and the need to refrain from insulting other's beliefs and from instigating hatred under the pretext of freedom of expression.

Sheikh Abdullah also urged Islamic countries and Muslims to exercise self restraint and to counter such instigations with wisdom. Sheikh Abdullah thanked UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon for his strong condemnation of the offensive film. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
