Abdullah bin Zayed continues meetings with officials participating in UN General Assembly 68th session

New York: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, has continued his political meetings in New York on the side-lines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

He met yesterday with Catherine Ashton, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The meeting reviewed the positions of both sides on the main regional and international political issues of common concern, particularly developments with regards to the Palestinian issue and the peace process in the Middle East, as well as developments in Syria, Egypt and Iran's nuclear file. In addition to a number of other issues of common concern.

The two sides agreed on the importance of providing all possible support to Egypt so that it can achieve security and stability for its people and their aspirations and hopes for progress and a decent living.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE in particular and the GCC in general with the European Union, including the areas of free trade and economic and investment exchanges.

Sheikh Abdullah also met yesterday in New York with his British counterpart, William Hague. The talks focused on bilateral relations and developments in Syria, including its chemical programme, and the efforts of Britain, along with its Western allies in the Security Council, to approve an effective international resolution to contribute to ending the crisis in Syria and the suffering of its people .

The UAE Foreign Minister also held meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Leonid Kozhara, and Albania, Ditmir Bushati, as well as with the Greek Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Evangelos Venizelos. The meetings discussed ways to develop bilateral relations, and reviewed the political policies on issues of common concern, including topics on the agenda of the UN General Assembly meeting..

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah also attended yesterday a working lunch hosted by the British Foreign Minister William Hague in honour of GCC Foreign Ministers. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
