PARIS: UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday participated at the unity rally where hundreds of thousands of the French people and tens of world leaders gathered in the French capital Paris to condemn terror attacks which took place in France last week.

Huge crowds sang the French national anthem as families of the attacks' victims joined two marches at downtown Paris amidst unprecedented heavy security personnel deployed by the French authorities to protect the marchers. The march has been split into two routes for security purposes. Both rallies began at the Place de la Republique and finished at the Place de la Nation.

Along with top French officials led President Francois Hollande, world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Italy, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas joined the beginning of the march.

King Abdullah II of Jordan, former Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra and Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, also took part in the march.

Huge crowds took part in the unity march after 17 people were killed during three days of attacks.

The unity rally came in the wake of a string of attacks on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday, killing of hostages Friday on a restaurant and a Jewish supermarket. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
