Istanbul - Foreign Minister H.H Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reiterated the UAE's condemnation of the recent criminal and inhumane Israeli attack on the humanitarian convoy. Sheikh Abdullah also renewed the UAE's calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibility and face the barbaric Israeli aggression. He further calls on the United Nations Secretary General to launch an impartial investigation into this aggression and prepare a full report.

In a speech before the Third Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Istanbul, Turkey, Sheikh Abdullah expressed heartfelt condolences to Turkey and all the bereaved families of the martyrs who lost their lives as a result of attack.

The ongoing cooperation and relations among CICA member states reflects its international status as well as its ability to face challenges, remove all causes of tension and dispute as well as to try and find just solutions to all the pending issues of the member states.

CICA and its current meeting provide an opportunity to hold consultations on development projects as well as to bolster stability among the member states, according to Sheikh Abdullah.

Sheikh Abdullah also reiterated the UAE's condemnation of all forms of terrorism including the terrorist attack which took place in Turkey Tuesday morning. He also stressed the UAE's support for all international efforts to make the Gulf region and the Middle East nuclear-free to further bolster regional stability and security while at the same time emphasizes that countries have the right to acquire nuclear energy technology for peaceful purposes.

"We always seek to expand economic and investment relations and encourage the private sector of member states," he said.

Sheikh Abdullah also expressed thanks to Turkey for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to participants as well as for organization of the CICA meeting which is being held at a time when the world sees rapid changes which require cooperation among all parties to overcome resulting difficulties that have become a concern to all states.

The UAE Foreign Minister also expressed thanks to President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev who first proposed the establishment of CICA in 1992 at the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

CICA was established to strengthen cooperation and provide a structure for regional security and stability, settle disputes, boost international security, combat terrorism, promote tolerance and build confidence. Later Sheikh Abdullah attended a luncheon hosted by Turkish President Abdullah Gul in honour of the heads of delegations to the forum. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
