UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan welcomed the statement made yesterday by the Council of the European Union with regard to the assassination of Mahmoud al Mabhouh in Dubai and the fraudulent use of passports and credit cards in the assassination.

"The UAE welcomes the statement made by the Council and wholeheartedly agrees that the assassination was not conducive to peace and stability in the Middle East.

I would like to thank the EU Council of Ministers for their expression of support and cooperation. We will continue to work with the EU in this investigation which has highlighted that the defrauding of passports are an infringement of national sovereignty as well as international law " said His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
