Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) resumes holding workshops to prepare a law project to protect, regulate and manage cultural heritage in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The law goes in line with the strategy of ADACH to preserve and regulate tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Emirate. It will also replace the local archaeological law number 8 of the year 1970.
The main structure of the law has been completed by ADACH and international experts in the field. It has also been reviewed and thoroughly discussed in a workshop with strategic partners of ADACH from government department in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
In the workshop held on Thursday, Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of ADACH, said that heritage is an essential and fundamental element in the character formation of the Emirates people.
"The new law will enhance the role of ADACH in protecting, preserving, promoting and regulating the cultural heritage. This will include other cultural aspects besides the present archaeological law and will set up new procedures to encourage protection and regulation of cultural heritage," he added.
As for organising archaeological activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, ADACH is developing the necessary procedures to supervise archaeological excavations legally and scientifically by qualified and authorized people. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
