His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has expressed pride in the UAE martyrs and said their memory will be perpetuated for sacrificing their lives for their country.

In a televised statement on the occasion of the Commemoration Day (Martyrs Day), H.H Sheikh Mohamed said, "This is the day of loyalty to people of loyalty. This is the day of expressing appreciation and gratitude to people of sacrifice and generous giving. Our martyrs' generosity is invaluable because lives are the most invaluable offering to the country."

"President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan decided to designate this day for commemorating the country's martyrs because he is the father and leader who knows the feelings of his sons and tries to boost their confidence, hope and optimism," he added.

"Although designating a day for martyrs is a symbol, in essence it is an expression of loyalty, pride and appreciation. It shows the national, social and moral dimensions and highlights the values of sacrifice, courage and generous giving. The memory of the martyrs will always be alive in our hearts and continue to impact our lives and progress," he said.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed described the martyrs as a source of pride and inspiration for future generations. "On this day, we remember the honourable stances of our heroes and the sacrifices of our forefathers who promoted the values of national loyalty, sacrifice and bravery."

H.H. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi further said that this solidarity and cohesion is powerful proof that we are one family whose members stand up for each other in good times and bad, and represent the national spirit which further strengthens the resolve of our country in its journey to the future.

He greeted the mothers, fathers and children of the martyrs for being a model for national loyalty, sacrifice and high national morale.

"I saw their eyes beaming with great respect for their country, and felt that their hearts are full of love for, loyalty for the UAE."

The crown prince of Abu Dhabi added, "Our country is going through an important historical stage in which we continue to prove that the UAE was established on solid foundations of the great principles and values of our religion, Islam, as it confronts various challenges. The UAE, therefore, will never hesitate to carry out its duties for our brothers and fulfil its ethical and humanitarian responsibilities. I want to stress that the sacrifices of our heroes will not go in vain and that their generous giving will be perpetuated by history. We will continue to work firmly for the glory of our country."

Concluding his statement, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said, "We reiterate our pride in our martyrs whose memory will always live in our hearts. We pray to Allah to bless them with mercy and forgiveness. May Allah spare the UAE and its people from evil deeds." – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395288717536.html
