Thailand and Abu Dhabi have begun high-level talks to enhance cooperation between the two countries to expand their airline and tourism business. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Civil Aviation, and Dr. Bhokin Bhalakula, Thai Deputy Premier, met here yesterday to discuss ways and means of boosting cooperation.

Discussions also involved traffic rights for the operation of flights by Etihad Airways between Abu Dhabi and the Thai capital Bangkok that would contribute to the growth of air travel between the two countries.

Etihad Airways told Gulf News last month the airline has finalised an air services agreement with Thailand's civil aviation authorities and flights from Abu Dhabi would commence in the last week of this month. The Thai Deputy Premier was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation including the Deputy Communications Minister, the Deputy Trade Minister, senior advisors and some government officials.
