The capital based Ahmed bin Khalaf Al Otaiba Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Governor of Khartoum State, Sudan, to provide finance and execute huge projects, including sewage grid, water desalination plants and construction of four residential towers in Khartoum, said Dr Abdul Halim Al Mutaafi, Governor of Khartoum State and Ex- minister for Investments and Industry. He said that Al Otaiba Group has considerable investments in Sudan, especially in the oil sector, industrial supplies and construction sector, according to reports in the UAE's dailies. The reports said that the Abu Dhabi group has entered into a joint venture with France's Vivendi to set up a wastewater treatment and sewage facility in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum. Feasibility studies for the project have been completed, he said. +In the last four years, a number of Arab investors and businessmen have realised Sudan's investment potentials, especially in the agriculture sector. Out of a total of 6 billion US dollars invested so far, nearly 50 per cent is Arab-owned with investments from the UAE representing a total of 1.4 billion dollars. This constitutes 40 per cent of the Arab investments in Sudan," said Al Mutaafi, according to the reports. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
