Abu Dhabi will welcome more than 800 global experts from the worlds of academia, business, civil society and government next week as it prepares to host the World Economic Forum 4th Summit on The Global Agenda.
Jointly hosted by the United Arab Emirates Federal Government and the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi together with the World Economic Forum, the Summit is recognised as the world's biggest gathering of great minds.
The Summit co-chairs will be Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates and Nasser Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi. Locating the Summit in Abu Dhabi for the first time underscores the UAE's growing prominence as a premier knowledge hub and global agenda setter.
Al Mansouri said: "We look forward to welcoming the best and the brightest from around the world for the Summit on the Global Agenda for the fourth time. This is a unique opportunity to share and exchange insights and work together to identify new ways of meeting some of the most pressing global challenges. We look forward to participating in the discussions in Abu Dhabi.”
Al Suwaidi said: "Our participation in the World Economic Forum, and hosting the Summit on the Global Agenda in Abu Dhabi is a testament to our ongoing commitment to partake in global dialogues. We have a large number of UAE experts, academics and leading personalities taking part in the working groups, helping to shape the agenda for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2012 in Davos next January.”
36 Council members from the UAE will be joined by fellow members from more than 80 countries. Together they will participate in 79 Councils comprised of between 15 and 20 members each. Between them, the Councils aim to address some of the most pressing global issues including technology, climate change, economic stability and geopolitical risk. They will discuss and identify key issues, opportunities and outcomes through a series of interactive sessions over the course of the two day summit at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
