Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, will host the 14th edition of the international chess championship during August 14-24 under the patronage of Major General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Ministry Under Secretary. The open championship will feature 150 players of different nationalities, ten of whom are seeded players and 60 from the UAE. About Dh 80,000 will be at stake, up 40 per cent from previous year's prize. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
