Abu Dhabi launches "Government Data Security" programme

Abu Dhabi government has launched a "Government Data Security" programme as part of the government's efforts to achieve its vision of becoming one of the best five governments in the world. The programme was launched during a workshop held here on Thursday at the Emirates Palace Hotel and attended by representatives of more than 60 local and federal government bodies.

Commenting on the programme, the Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bowardi, said the launch of the programme was part of the Abu Dhabi government's efforts to achieve its vision of becoming one of the best five governments in the world through continuous improvement of quality and competent government services and to move from the conventional to eGovernment.

The Abu Dhabi Government Data Security programme is the most comprehensive of its kind in the Middle East region in the area of government data security, he said, adding that launching of the programme was in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the support and follow-up of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, and was aimed at ensuring the security and safety of and confidentiality in government services.

The Abu Dhabi Systems and Data Centre has worked on a comprehensive strategy to provide a framework for the management of data and information security from the administrative and employment perspectives with the aim of attaining the best international practices in this area. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
