The UAE rescue team, affiliated to Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters, returned from Indonesia on Friday after taking part in relief work following the earthquake that recently rocked the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The rescue team was sent to Indonesia on the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The rescue and ambulance team, upon arrival, was received by Brigadier Ahmed Nassir Al Raiessi, Director-General of the Central Operations Department, and a number of police officers from the Department of Emergency and Safety, Abu Dhabi Police.

Brig. Al Raiessi conveyed to them the greetings of Lt.-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, for rescuing those trapped under the debris following the quake. Brig. Al Raiessi also lauded the personnel for working as a team in carrying out the humanitarian mission. (Khaleej Times)
