Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) has emphasised that Israel's fait accompli policy on building settlements on occupied Palestinian lands 'is not acceptable to the Palestinian leadership. 'The fait accompli policy Israel is trying to impose through its continuous building of settlements on our occupied lands is not acceptable,' Abu Mazen said in a statement on his departure here for Doha. Abu Mazen, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, told Emirates News Agency (WAM) that his talks with senior UAE officials were excellent.

'The UAE officials, as usual, have met all our demands without delving into details,' he said. He also paid tribute to the UAE for its great support for the Palestinian people. 'The UAE spares no effort to lend support for the Palestinian people. Cities named after the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Gaza Strip were shining examples of that support,' he added. The Palestinian leader was seen off by Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, and a number of senior officials as well as Palestinian Ambassador Khalid Malak.
