Children in the UAE, of over 100 different nationalities, have so much to be thankful for. The stability and peace notwithstanding, the fact that one can grow up in such a multi-cultural environment is a boon to little ones. Even a short stint in the UAE opens ones eyes to a whole plethora of backgrounds and cultural specifics that enrich one's life. Accession Day this year marks the 37th year of the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Under his guidance, the UAE has gone from strength to strength.

The Accession Day celebrations will take place at the Modhesh Fun City, Deira City Centre and the Hamarain Centre. Dubai TV and the Arabian Radio Network will be carrying the proceedings live. While Dubai TV will feature the celebrations in Al Shottar, Marhaba Al Saa, Modhesh's World, Good Evening Dubai, and Summer & Surprises, the ARN will have all four of its channels focusing on this event.

DSS CEO Saeed Al Naboudah said the events of Accession Day are being aimed at children to instill in them a respect and understanding of the history of the region. "The 6th of August will definitely be a very important day for children as well. The events and activities for the day will include several celebrations that will lend a special ambience to the entire city," said Naboudah. "We invite all families and children to come forward and join us in celebrating this day," he added.

The celebration at the Modhesh Fun City will include a parade of children of different nationalities. The children of the Kid's Talent Square are preparing a special play. There will also be special dances by children in honour of the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The celebrations will start at 10 am, and the day will be action-packed till 10 pm. The children of the Modhesh Fun City will welcome all visitors. Clowns, jugglers, musicians, balloon moulders and other performers will also be at the entrance, welcoming all who come in. The Talent Square will have pianists playing at the entrance. UAE flags, t-shirts and caps will be handed out to all who visit the Modhesh Fun City.

Sheikh Zayed has sent out messages to the children of the UAE, and these will be displayed in the relevant sections. For instance, the E-Zone will display the message from the President about the importance of education and how it can make lives better. The ARN channels will also be airing spoken addresses by Sheikh Zayed through the day. Each zone will hold competitions and games that reflect the specialty of that particular zone.
