The Afghan interim government is hoping to gain from the UAE experience of infrastructure building for the reconstruction of their war-ravaged country. Dr Abdullah Abdullah, the interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, told Gulf News: "I think the UAE can play a pivotal role in the reconstruction of the country." Elaborating on the UAE partnership in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, Dr Abdullah said: "A vibrant economy, a system which is a success model that has changed the lives of people and helped promote business throughout the region, could have a positive impact on the situation in Afghanistan and its reconstruction. "I discussed cooperation in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and expressed our gratitude to the UAE government and leadership for their support. We also thank the UAE for its pledge of donations for the reconstruction process and humanitarian assistance, at the same time the political support to the interim government to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan."
