Low-cost carrier Air Arabia announced that the construction of its 300-room three-star Centro Hotel at Sharjah airport will be completed by next April.
The concrete structure for all four floors of the hotel has already been finished and the hotel is poised to reach completion, beating the development's budget.
The hotel includes standard rooms and suites and will target both business travellers and individual guests.
"Centro by Rotana at the Sharjah airport is a key element of Air Arabia's expansion strategy.
"We are pleased to announce that, despite challenging economic conditions, the project is on track and will be ready to welcome guests by 2010," Adel Ali, group CEO of Air Arabia, said
Ali also said that in addition to the services offered by the airline, the hotel is also hoped to act as an extra source of revenue.
Centro by Rotana will feature a gym and swimming pools together with business facilities.
Air Arabia, the Sharjah-based national budget carrier, announced the launch of the Centro Hotel in early 2007, following the signing of a management agreement between Air Arabia and Rotana Hotels to manage the property under the Centro by Rotana brand.
Sharjah airport enjoyed an 11 per cent increase in passenger traffic in the first five months of this year to 2.3 million passengers. – Gulf News
