The first female winner of the Al Ain Aerobatic Show Prize 2007 walked away with a cash prize of $50,000 on the last day of the show.

Russian Svetlana Kapanina, was the first winner at the Al Ain Aerobatics Show to receive a monetary prize and was presented with cheque for $50,000 (Dh183,640) and a falcon trophy from Colonel Abdullah Al Amimi, head of the Flying Control Committee Kapanina, 38, from Moscow, said she was honoured to be at the airshow and come away from with the top prize – and joked about beating a distinguished field of male pilots.

Show commentator Tim Callaway said it was an unbelievable performance from the five-time world aerobatics champion, and she deserved to win. "You have to be among the world's best to be even invited to the show, so to win it is a big deal,” he said. "Kapanina looked like she was flying on rails at one point. It was an unbelievable performance.” (Emirates Today)
