Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) HE Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair received yesterday Member of the British Parliament John Grogan, who recently brought the issue of UAE's three occupied islands for debate in Britain's House of Commons for the first time in 38 years.

Labour MP Grogan is currently on a visit to the UAE.

During the meeting, which was also attended by a number of other officials, they discussed cooperation between FNC and the British Parliament.

Al Ghurair hailed the debate by the British House of Commons the issue of UAE's three islands -Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa- by Iran. He reiterated the need for solving the issue by peaceful means, either through bilateral negotiations or resorting to the international court of justice. Addressing the press shortly after meeting with Grogan, Al Ghurair hinted at the chance of the European parliament discussing the issue soon. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
