Al Jaber discusses enhancing UAE-US relations

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State who is in Washington, D.C., held a number of meetings with US officials discussing bilateral relations between the UAE and the US in various areas of mutual concern, including international ties, regional stability and energy, economic and trade fields.

Yousef Al Otaiba, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United States, participated in the discussions aimed at enhancing the existing strategic partnership between the two countries and expanding it to include new fields for the benefit of the two sides.

Dr. Al Jaber said that the UAE-US relations are strong and are based on a clear vision, mutual respect, joint interests, and continuous communication and coordination, adding that the UAE is looking forward to enhance ties, especially issues of joint concern, including energy and trade, as well as ways to enhance the welfare of the region.

The UAE Minister of State also held meetings with officials of the US administration, Congress and Secretaries of State of Energy and Foreign Affairs, in addition to a number of decision and policy makers in the US.

He also took part in a workshop organised by The Atlantic Council, deemed as one of the most important intellectual think tanks that focuses on international relations and security, as well as welfare of global economy.

He also attended two discussion sessions with a number of US politicians, economic figures, decision makers and thinkers.

During the two sessions, Al Jaber briefed the audience on the progress witnessed by the UAE in various fields and its basic economic pillars as well as its international relations. They also tackled the importance of representing the correct image of Islam as well as its humane and tolerant values. The participants also discussed the developmental programme being implemented in Egypt, stressing the strategic importance of Egypt. He also shed light on the "2015 Egypt Economic Development Conference," due to be held in Egypt next March.

During the visit, Al Jaber met with Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group, and Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and discussed the strong ties with the two bodies. - Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395277236735.html
