Al Jarman becomes UAE's permanent Representative at UN

New York - Ambassador Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al Jarman presented his credentials, as UAE's Permanent Representative at United Nations, to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The presentation ceremony held at the UN headquarters here was attended by a number of senior officials at the United Nations and members of UAE's diplomatic mission at UN. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomed Al Jarman, who becomes UAE's sixth Permanent Representative since the country joined the world Organization in 1971. Pan Ki-moon wished Al Jarman all success in his political mission. He also wished UAE continued progress and prosperity.

On his side, Al Jarman conveyed to the UN Secretary General, greetings from H.H. President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. He reiterated UAE's commitment to the goals of the United Nations and its adherence to the principles of UN conventions.

He also underlined UAE's commitment to the implementation of legitimate international resolutions, and cooperation with all the UN activities, especially those serve the cause of regional and international security, peace and stability, strengthening the role of the Organization on the world level.

The presentation of credentials by Al Jarman comes four weeks prior to the inauguration of 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, in which foreign ministers or representatives from 192 counties will take part.

A Law graduate from Cairo University, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Garman joined Foreign Ministry in 1975 and held several key posts including that of Assistant Undersecretary for Specialized Affairs. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
