His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, had donated 400 tons of palm dates to the displaced in Darfur, stated Eisa Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the UAE ambassador to Sudan. He said that the donation which was received in Khartoum by Ramair Lopez de Silva, representative of the World Food Programme in the Sudanese capital, was a move by the UAE in the direction of extending a helping hand to the displaced in Darfur region, in continuation of late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's philanthropic programme to the needy everywhere. The donation will be distributed in collaboration with UAE Red Crescent and the WFP.

Abdul Rahman Abu Doum, under secretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Humanitarian Affaires lauded the UAE generous assistance to Sudan, and extended his thanks to Sheikh Sultan, the Red Crescent and Mohammed bin Rashid's Humanitarian Organization for their support to Sudan, especially Darfur.
