Maryam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs Tuesday visited Iraqi children currently receiving medical treatment at Mafraq hospital. In a remarks shortly after her visit, Al Roumi said the UAE was keen to see a stable and secure Iraq where children will be able to enjoy their childhood. She added that her visit was a message of fraternity from the UAE children to their Iraqi brethren.

"While this visit is a good will gesture from the UAE children towards their Iraqi brethren, it is also a message of rejection of violence from the Iraqi children", she said. The Minister who was accompanied by Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS), expressed her deep sympathy with the hospitalized children.

The children were among a group of 55 wounded Iraqis - all of whom sustained serious injuries as a result of the on-going violence in Iraq, who were flown to the UAE January for medical treatment in various UAE hospitals. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
