The former Dean of Palestinian Bar Association, Ibrahim Al Saqqa, valued highly the humanitarian aid the UAE had offered to the people of Palestine.

Al Saqqa, who is also the founder of Gaza Law Centre, said, in a lecture delivered at the Information Affairs' Office of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, the charitable projects and financial and material help offered to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza were one of the niches that lights their future and give them the strength to survive.

"This huge help are represented in the city of Sheikh Zayed in Northern Gaza Strip in order to provide homes for thousands of Palestinians, besides the city of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan that is being build at the expense of the UAE President in place of an Israeli settlement in Southern Gaza at the cost of US$100 million. The city is designed to accommodate more than 30 thousand Palestinians," he opined.

Al Saqqa pointed out that the honourable contributions offered by the UAE Red Crescent Society (UAERCS) to the people of Palestine were considered to be magnificent human services that covered most of Palestinian cities, villages and camps. It included building of schools, hospitals, houses, roads, and supplying food, medicines, clothes to the poor and needy.

He also mentioned that Palestine is a very poor country due to the violations perpetrated by Israelis against the Palestinians. And, he urged the Arab and Muslim countries to pursue pressure on Israel in order to sign the fourth agreement of Geneva 1949 for the protection of Palestinians. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
