Amal Al Qubaisi meets women MPs of Italian Chamber of Deputies

Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), has met with women members of parliament (MPs) of the Italian Chamber of Deputies in Rome.

This came up during an official visit of Dr. Al Qubaisi and her accompanying delegation including Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Za'abi, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, and other members. Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Italy was also accompanying the UAE's parliamentary delegation.

Italian women members of parliament hailed the effective and vital role played by the FNC through promoting the Emirati parliamentarian diplomacy under chairmanship of Dr. Al Qubaisi. They apprised the role and activities and nature of work of the Italian Chamber of Deputies as part of the support of Speaker of the Italian lower house, Laura Boldrini.

The Italian women MPs showed their keen interest to know about the UAE's experience in women empowerment and youth fields, and also their participation in the parliamentary elections as well as the election process.

Dr. Al Qubaisi praised the keenness of the Italian side to meet FNC delegation and exchange of views and expertise regarding various issues that would enhance women MPs' parliamentary work. She also hailed the Italian women MPs' political role, stressing the importance of joint work between the two parliamentary institutions especially coordination and consultations on a number of issues including women empowerment, gender equality, women protection worldwide especially in wars and conflict zones.

She said that late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had empowered women and this legacy is being sustained by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates as well as the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
