Renowned American Muslim scholar and preacher, Hamza Hanson Yusuf, has described the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as a rare and inspiring figure.

Yusuf, in his lecture yesterday in Abu Dhabi, said he met Sheikh Zayed several times and found that his words were full of wisdom.

Yusuf, a co-founder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California, US, was speaking at a lecture organised under the title "Manners of Muslims" by the UAE General Women's Union (GWU) and the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf).

He greeted Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women's Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, for her efforts for women's development in the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
