Dubai Police yesterday registered the Middle East's first amphibious bus that will be used by a UAE national tourism company for tours on Dubai streets and creek. After receiving approval from the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Wonder Bus Tours will today go to the Coast Guard for their approval of the use of the bus in the creek, Khalid Al Shahin, company general manager, told Gulf News.
The Dh1 million bus is powered by a 210 HP diesel engine and can take 49 passengers at a maximum speed of 120kph. It is equipped with microphones for tour guides, first aid kits, air conditioning, life jackets, automatic fire extinguisher system and cameras. Manufactured by the U.S. firm Cool Amphibious Manufacturers International LLC, the bus is only the second operational vehicle in Asia after Osaka and the 20th globally. (The Gulf News)
