Appeal for help from Dubai Aid City - Dubai Humanitarian City for earthquake

Dubai Aid City and Dubai Humanitarian City is requesting the people of the UAE to come forward to help victims of the massive earthquake that devastated Pakistan. Thousands of people are left homeless and many more are in dire need of medical attention.



Khaled Mansour, Senior Regional Information Officer, UN WFP, Middle East, Central Asia & Eastern Europe said, "It is vital to get to the survivors as soon as possible. They have already had five nights out in the open and now under the cold and rain. Food is absolutely critical for their survival. WFP is trying to get ready made food as fast as possible to the more than 1 million people who need urgent assistance."



Spry-Leverton, UNICEF representative stationed in Pakistan said, "The temperatures here are dropping every night. We have to move fast and get blankets to the children, to keep them warm. They are exposed to deteriorating weather and living near snow-filled mountains. A bitter wind has recently risen, and the weather is unseasonably cold."



WHO representative based in Karachi said, "WHO is appealing that efforts in the health sector are being coordinated, for that purpose WHO has organised an operational cell that can be contacted at: [email protected]
