Amman - The Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) has urged Iran to resolve the issue of the three UAE islands - Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa- occupied by Iran, through peaceful means, whether by direct negotiations or recourse to the International Court of Justice.

The APU, in a statement issued at the conclusion of the seventh session of its Executive Committee this evening in the Jordanian capital Amman, expressed outrage and condemnation of the US announcement that it is giving up on efforts to persuade Israel to freeze settlements for a limited time as a prelude to the resumption of negotiations.

The APU also condemned the decision of the U.S. Congress to refuse to recognise the declaration of the State of Palestine from one side. It also hailed the recognition of the Palestinian State by some Latin American countries and expressed hope that other countries will recognise Palestine soon. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
