Damascus - The 20th ordinary Arab League Summit which concluded yesterday was successful, according to HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs. Speaking to the Syrian Television and the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE had been keen to participate at the highest level in the person of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"The UAE and Syria are bound by close fraternal relations", said Sheikh Abdullah, adding that the Damascus summit was a model upon which forthcoming ordinary summits should be built. He commended the remarks of President Bashar Al Assad during the closed session, saying they were frank and positive. Asked on the position adopted by the summit on the Arab-Israeli conflict, Sheikh Abdullah said Arabs have had one position on the issue but a lot of hard work needed to be done to achieve the goals. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
