In its recent meeting, the Emirates Archery Association announced its plan that would contribute to promoting the game in sports clubs and centres across the country. It also announced that it will be holding extensive meetings and seminars that would encourage practice of this particular sport locally, and advance it regionally and internationally.

The meeting was chaired by Major General Staff Dr Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the Emirates Archery Association's Board of Directors at his office at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in the presence of all members.

The meeting discussed a number of issues on the agenda, notably the budget, priorities and future needs, in addition to follow-up of requirements for the next phase. The Technical Committee Chairman was also selected during the meeting.

Al Kutbi said: "We seek to achieve the higher leadership's aspirations to attain leadership and excellence in all sports forums. It also strives to promote archery as a popular sport, and set up a sports base at the level of clubs and sports centres”.

"We discussed a number of issues on the agenda, as well as the vision, mission, goals and achievements of the Association. The minutes of the first meeting were approved,” indicated Al Kutbi.

Al Kutbi reiterated the commitment of the Association and its members to evaluate the practice of this sport in clubs and sports centres.

He also underlined their keenness to review the government's support to allow the Association to set up its technical and administrative plan appropriately.

"We are seeking to create a professional sports platform to place this game among the popular sports activities.

"This comes in line with our keenness to promote archery and the importance of practicing such an activity, and to establish a strong team of skilled players,” concluded Al Kutbi. – The Gulf Today – Read more:
