Islamabad: Acting upon the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE project to assist Pakistan has mobilised caravans carrying food items for the displaced families in Pakistan.

The US$1million programme will distribute essential food among the impoverished in the holy month of Ramadan helping them to cook Iftar meals.

The effort comes within the constant keenness of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to improve the living conditions of the impoverished and enable them to return to normal life, said Director of UAE project to assist Pakistan Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli.

Over twenty thousand families will benefit from the food aid in its current phase.

The project is stationed in Pakistan and has rebuilt the infrastructure in educational and health care sectors like roads, bridges, provision of clean water in Swat and other districts to help the families affected by natural disasters. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
