Azerbaijan President receives UAE Minister of Foreign Trade

Azerbaijan President Ilham Heydar Aliyev received on Monday UAE Minister of Foreign Trade HE Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, who is heading a high level delegation to the first UAE-Azerbaijan joint ministerial meeting in Baku.

Sheikha Lubna and the Azeri President discussed the friendly relations between UAE and Azerbaijan, especially in the field of economy. They also briefly discussed a number of issues on the agenda of the ministerial committee meeting.

The Azeri president expressed his happiness over the growing economic relations between the two countries. Aliyev said that UAE stands out among world countries as a pioneering example for diversifying the economy. He hailed the economic growth and the prudent economic policies adopted by UAE.

The Azeri President said that there are vast opportunities in front of UAE and Azerbaijan to enhance bilateral relations. He expressed his country's keenness for strengthening political, economic and cultural relations with UAE. Aliyev said that all impediments retarding the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries should be overcome and the private sector in both countries should work together for joint investment ventures

Sheikha Lubna said that UAE is keen on strengthening bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, adding that all challenges should be faced in achieving this goal in the best interests of the people in both countries. She pointed out that the delegation participating in the ministerial committee meeting is composed of representatives of private sector and large investment institutions like 'Mubadala', and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), reflecting UAE's interest in exploring new economic avenues.

She also asserted UAE's keenness in encouraging private sector, and urged the need for economic partnerships between the private sectors in both the countries. Sheikha Lubna also gave a brief description of the economic trends in the UAE, highlighting the high rate of growth. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
